Cryolite
Synthetic cryolite (Na₃AlF₆) is indispensable as an important flux in aluminum production and metallurgy. It lowers the melting point and thus helps to save energy.

Fluorspar
Metallurgical fluorspar is used as a slag conditioner in the manufacturing of stainless steel. The process requires a high proportion of calcium fluoride (CaF₂) and as low a content of impurities as possible.
